Maple Oatmeal Bread Recipe
You will love this maple oatmeal bread recipe celebrating the great taste of maple syrup. Adding Pennsylvania maple syrup to this recipes is the best way to put a sweet spin on oatmeal bread. Recipe Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Pennsylvania maple syrup
- 1 3/4 cups boiling water
- 1 scant tsp. instant coffee
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 2 lg. eggs
Recipe Directions
- Combine water, coffee, oats, shortening, maple syrup, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm.
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water and add to the first mixture.
- Blend in eggs. Gradually add flour and mix until smooth. Add enough flour to make a moderately stiff dough.
- Place in greased bowl to rise. Punch down, knead a little and shape into two loaves. Let rise again.
Bake 30 - 40 minutes at 325 degrees. (For 6 1/2 cups flour use 2 large bread pans.)
