Maple Layer Cake Recipe

You will love this layer cake with maple syrup recipe celebrating the great taste of maple. Adding Pennsylvania maple syrup to this recipe is the best way to put a sweet spin on your cakes, pies and bread.

Recipe Ingredients

• 1 cup Pennsylvania Maple Syrup
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 3 eggs
• 3 1/4 cups) sifted cake and pastry flour
• 1 tbsp baking powder
• 1 tsp of salt
• 1/2 cup milk

1. Line bottom of two greased 9 inch round baking pans with greased wax paper.
2. Cream butter and gradually beat in sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
4. Add maple syrup and beat until smooth.
5. Sift together dry ingredients; add alternately with milk.
6. Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350°F until cake springs back when pressed lightly (30 to 35 min).
7. Cool for 5 minutes and turn out of pans on completely flat surface.
8. When cold, may be frosted with Maple Butter Frosting.
9. Makes 1 layer cake.

Maple Butter Frosting Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

• 2 tablespoons Pennsylvania Maple Syrup
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 4 cups confectioners' sugar
• 2 tablespoons milk
Recipe Directions
1. To make frosting: cream butter and 1/2 cup shortening together.
2. Add maple syrup.
3. Gradually add confectioners' sugar.
4. Gradually add milk and continue beating until light and airy.
5. Add more milk if necessary.
6. Add more maple syrup, if desired.
